Reginald (Reggie) Carter is the Executive Director with 20+ years in the IDD realm. Reggie is originally from Atlanta, GA and holds a B.S. Degree in Business from Liberty University. After 5 years of working successfully as a Case Manager, Reggie recognized and understood the growing need for quality services for the IDD population. Reggie founded Life Based Conceptions, LLC in 2007. Reggie ensures that LBC’s mission of creating opportunities and maximizing an individual’s potential are achieved. Reggie takes pride in meeting financial objectives and developing resources that enable program expansion. In his free time, Reggie enjoys mentoring youth, exploring new technologies and gadgets, being active within his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Lacresha Carter-Sims is the Residential Manager at LBC. She is committed to nutritional wellness and organization. She has spent the last 2 years creating relationships in the community to improve the lives of individuals in the IDD community. Lacresha initiates and implements activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and community inclusiveness while empowering clients to have a voice and choice in their lives. Lacresha is passionate about her work and is a self-described Enthusiast.

Habibatu "Tutu" Turay serves as the Operations Director at Life Based Conceptions (LBC), where she provides strategic leadership and management to advance the organization's mission. Since joining LBC in 2007, Tutu has dedicated her career to empowering individuals and families with intellectual disabilities, fostering a compassionate and supportive environment where they can thrive. As a Qualified Professional, she is committed to helping others draw on their strengths to realize their full potential and lead fulfilling, joyful lives. Beyond her professional role, Tutu is passionate about hands-on projects and meaningful experiences. She enjoys yard work, fixing things around the house, exploring new destinations, and cherishing time with her family.

Essence Gee is a native of Durham, NC, and currently serves as the Quality Control Administrator. With over 15 years of experience in helping and assisting others, she has a genuine passion for supporting people in any way possible. Although she is new to the company, she's excited to take on this new opportunity. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family, friends, and her dog. She also loves shopping and traveling.

In his free time, Damon enjoys traveling and spending quality time with friends and family.

My name is Vanessa Holloway, a proud native of Durham, and I serve as a Qualified Professional at Life Based Conceptions (LBC). As a Qualified Professional at LBC, I am dedicated to assessing individual needs, coordinating personalized care plans, and ensuring individuals receive essential support and services to improve their quality of life. I have a passion for exploring the outdoors, from beach trips to walking trails. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University, and I love spending time with family, diving into art, and drawing inspiration from my favorite poet, Maya Angelou, who reminds us, “People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Caring for others is at the heart of who I am and what I do.

Program Manager

Tara received her Bachelor’s of Social Work from Appalachian State University and then earned her Master’s in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has worked in the intellectual and developmental disability field for 10+ years and is passionate about ensuring people with disabilities live as full and vibrant as a life they want and are included in their community. She has served as Board President, Past President, and Secretary for the North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance and continues to volunteer for NCDSA. When not working, Tara can be found with her family, gardening, making a mess in the kitchen, or planning her next trip! Tara is the Program Manager at LBC and is looking forward to working with our clients and their families to meet their needs.

I moved from Virginia in 2011 and graduated from high school in 2014. I am a big music junkie and have also danced for roughly 12 years. I am passionate about helping others and consider myself to be highly empathetic. I firmly believe in the principle of "you get what you give" in life. Family is extremely important to me, and I adore children. I have nine years of experience in customer service and have worked as a nanny for five years. I am currently pursuing a degree in Psychology. My long-term goal is to obtain my master's degree and work with children as a therapist or in the social work field.

I am passionate about helping others reach their goals and building meaningful relationships through compassionate support. After recently moving to Durham to be closer to family, I am excited to begin my new role as an Associate Professional with Life Based Conceptions.

Public Relations Porsha is a 16-month-old Great Dane. At LBC, we believe you should bring up a child in the ways that it should go, and that includes our dog. Her job as a Public Relations representative is to make new people comfortable when we have visitors at the office. Unfortunately, Porsha is very shy at this point, but we’re sure that over time, she will grow into her position.

Porsha loves running around while looking like a goofy puppy just learning to run and taking rides in the car. She loves taking care of her family as well as their grandkids. Her dad loves that she can come to the office and simply sleep under his desk and be happy.
